Costco Wholesale (COST) is a US-listed members-only big-box retailer founded in 1983, operating roughly 900 warehouses globally. Revenue comes mainly from product sales, but a meaningful share of profit is from annual membership fees. Known for thin product margins, very high inventory turnover and an unusually loyal customer base. Costco trades on the Nasdaq and is a steady (if low-yielding) dividend payer, occasionally returning capital via special dividends.
