The DAX tracks the 40 largest companies listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange — Germany's blue-chip index and the main gauge of the eurozone's largest economy. It is heavily weighted toward industrial, automotive and chemical names like Siemens, SAP, Volkswagen and Bayer. The DAX reflects German manufacturing health, ECB policy and global trade conditions, and tends to react sharply to euro-area economic releases. Index products are leveraged and carry market risk.
