About Ripple USD
Ripple USD (RLUSD) is a US-dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Ripple, launched in late 2024 under a New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) trust company charter. It is fully backed by US dollar deposits, US Treasury bills and similar cash equivalents, with monthly attestations. RLUSD is available on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, designed to plug into Ripple's existing payments and on-ramp infrastructure. As a regulated, fiat-backed stablecoin, it carries counterparty risk on Ripple and its custodians — verify the latest reserve report before holding large balances. Volatility is minimal in normal conditions but peg risk can appear under stress.
