About Litecoin
Litecoin (LTC) is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies, created in 2011 by Charlie Lee as a fork of Bitcoin. It uses the Scrypt mining algorithm and a faster 2.5-minute block time, positioned as "silver to Bitcoin's gold" for everyday payments. Supply is capped at 84 million coins — four times Bitcoin's — with the same halving schedule. Litecoin added MimbleWimble extension blocks in 2022 to offer optional confidentiality for shielded transfers. It has a long track record and reliable network, though developer activity is smaller than Bitcoin's or Ethereum's. Like all crypto, expect volatility and only invest what you can afford to lose.
